Where everything you have learned comes to life behind the camera. Together on the shores of beautiful Blue Ridge Lake in Morganton, Georgia, just about an hour and a half from Atlanta, you will shoot, refine, and elevate your work during our intimate photography retreat in North Georgia.
Roadtrippers Retreat
Nearly twelve hours of guided shooting and real world workflow inside my Atlanta photography studio one day before the retreat begins. This optional add on day starts at 8:30am and ends at 8pm after a golden hour session in the field. This includes four styled shoots, live culling and editing, lighting training, and hands on support so you can apply what you are learning in real time before we head to the lake.

Katie brings both heart and hands on expertise to the Roadtrippers experience. Known for her calm presence and eye for authentic connection, Katie supports attendees in building confidence behind the camera while refining the small details that elevate an image.
Throughout the retreat, Katie will be right alongside you assisting with shooting, offering gentle posing guidance, and helping you implement what you are learning in real time. Her goal is to make sure every photographer feels supported, capable, and encouraged every step of the way.

Kristyna Lewis is passionate about helping photographers see the potential in both their work and themselves. Known for her expertise in posing women and seniors, she brings a thoughtful teaching style and strong technical foundation that makes the creative process feel both approachable and empowering.

Join Marcie for a stunning, light-filled family shoot during golden hour. She’ll walk you through how to direct natural connection, capture movement, and style a session that feels both timeless and full of heart.
Golden Hour Senior Session
During our senior styled session, you will learn how to confidently pose and direct seniors in a way that feels natural, elevated, and true to who they are.
We will focus on:
• Building easy, repeatable posing foundations
• Guiding natural movement and authentic expressions
• Incorporating meaningful props and personal details
• Creating variety efficiently during a session
• Capturing both personality and polished portraits
You will see how small adjustments in posing, prompting, and styling can completely transform an image from stiff to storytelling.
We will also talk through how to incorporate items that are unique to each senior, whether that is sports gear, hobbies, or personal touches, so your galleries feel customized and never cookie cutter.
By the end of this experience, you will walk away with both the confidence and the practical tools to create senior images that feel personal, emotive, and timeless.
Golden Hour Headshots
During golden hour, we’ll take each other’s headshots with lots of laughter, hype, and maybe even a little glam. Marcie will bring dresses from the client closet, and chances are, you’ll find yourself swapping outfits, doing each other’s hair and makeup, and having the best time. You’ll go home with gorgeous, updated headshots and unforgettable memories.

We all learn photography from different platforms. This chapter is to go over the basics and share how I set my camera up to get the sharpest images possible, what lenses I like to use, and how I use light. We will discuss light and how it effects everything including all of your editing. This chapter will dissolve some frustrations you're having with your images "missing" something.

Where to even begin. I have reflected numerous times on this trip. I signed up still shooting in auto. You were kind enough to have a zoom meeting with me and it motivated me to learn manual. I came in as a person who shot primarily landscape. I was a little nervous to go and finding out everyone had their own businesses was a little intimidating at first but everyone was so nice and I was there to learn so it was fine. Kim and Shalonda were also incredible additions! I appreciated their insight and mentorship immensely. There is just something you get from in person learning versus learning online.
