Whether you just got your camera, been taking pictures for years, or learning to grow your photography business there is something here for you in our Atlanta photography workshops and classes. The intro to photography classes are designed for adults who have a camera but don't really know how to use. You may want to do photography as a hobby or a job but first you need to learn how to use your camera, edit your photos, and understand light. The workshops are for photographers who are looking to grow their skills and their photography business.
The 2 day masterclass is the Roadtrippers Retreat coming to the studio. I have been leading women's retreats for the last 7 years and the studio is a fabulous place to learn photography. I can't wait to welcome our masterclass attendees to the studio and watch the learning unfold. This will include the Roadtrippers 100+ page workbook that we use at the retreat. If you can't join us at the retreat join us at the studio! It's going to be amazing!
The one day workshop and two day masterclass are for photographers who are ready to take their photography to the next level. We will go over photography and lighting as well as all the business stuff you need to have in place to make sure your business is being found on google, you're workflow is as efficient as possible, you're set up to take on more volume if you wish, and you have a better understanding on how to market to your clients and how to get them to pay.
We have beginner photography classes like photography 101, editing 101, understanding light for photographers that are just getting started. We also offer 1 and 2 day photography workshops for advanced photographers looking to grow their photography skills and business.
My biggest takeaway was; I invested in Marcie’s knowledge, experience, and expertise as a photography coach, and at the end of each training I realized Marcie had invested way more in me. Marcie doesn’t compare to any other photography coach, educator, or mentor I have ever had.
1. My top recommendation for a camera would the Sony A7 series (a7iii, a7iv). My top recommendation for a lens would be Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD G2 (Sony mount).
2. Cameras are making a huge shift from DSLR to Mirrorless. While you can get a great deal on a used DSLR camera they are or will be soon not making them anymore or lenses to go with them. It's like buying an outdated car that they don't make parts for. I would look into any mirrorless system. Sony has been making mirrorless cameras the longest and there are a lot of lenses you can buy to go with them. Canon and Nikon are fairly new to the mirrorless game but putting out amazing cameras as well! My recommendation is a Sony a7ii or Sony a7iv for a new or advanced photographer.
3. Right now I'm using the Sony a9ii and Canon R5.
4. I use all Tamron lenses. I have been shooting with Tamron lenses since 2016 and I think they are the best out there. They are reliable, extremely well made, and rarely if ever have issues. They are like a Honda vehicle, you can rely on them to work great and not break! My main camera body is a Sony mirrorless so my favorite lenses are made for a Sony mirrorless camera. I love the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD G2 for every day shooting, I use my Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD for almost everything, and for sports I love the Tamron 70-300mm F/4.5-6.6 Di III RXD F/4.5-6.6 Di III RXD or Tamron 50-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD.
5. I primarily use Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop. For when I need to use AI for editing I use Imagen and Evoto.
6. I use a program called Photo Mechanic to cull my photos and I couldn't live without it!
7. I use studio lighting for certain situations like school volume photography, sports volume photography, professional headshots and other things like that. I use all Profoto lighting. I have the B10 and A2 lights.
8. After you have learned how to use your camera and shoot in manual mode the next most important thing you need to learn is light. Light is absolutely everything with photography. The most expensive camera can't take a good picture in bad lighting. You have to learn and understand light to take the amazing photos you dream of.
