I'm so excited that you're interested in me photographing your Atlanta high school senior!
Hi, I’m Marcie Reif! I have a teenage daughter, so I get a front row seat to what’s cool, what’s absolutely not, and how quickly an idea can get shut down with one look, lol!
That probably helps more than anything when I’m photographing seniors. I like to figure out what they’re comfortable with, what they’re excited about, and what they want their photos to feel like.
Some seniors want me to pose them from head to toe and tell them exactly what to do. Some have been waiting for senior pictures forever and already know every pose they want. And then most fall right in the middle who want direction, but also want room to make it their own.
I just follow their lead and give them what they need along the way. The biggest thing for me is making sure they feel comfortable, feel like they look amazing, and know they’re doing a great job.
So if your teenager rolls their eyes at everything you suggest, don’t worry. Somehow, I usually manage to understand the vision from both and find a way to make everyone happy!
If it is hot, bring plenty of cold water and a couple of small handheld fans. Senior sessions move around quite a bit, and staying cool and comfortable makes a huge difference in how everyone feels by the end.
If your child does not do well in the heat wait to do their session when it isn't so hot.
If you have one a wagon is one of the best things you can bring. Load it up with outfits, shoes, accessories, water, and anything else we may need. I also recommend bringing a couple of blankets we can hold up to create a little privacy for outfit changes.
Make sure you have the right undergarments for every outfit so we are not fighting bra straps or anything showing that you do not want in the photos. A little extra hairspray is also a great idea, especially with Atlanta heat and humidity.
A cap and gown, graduation tassel with the year, flowers, sports gear, a letterman jacket, or anything that feels personal to your senior can add so much to the session without making it feel overly styled.
Pick a location that matches their personality and style. We of course love the fields but if that is not them we can come up with more ideas!
Choose about 3-4 outfits. A little variety goes a long way. For girls, I love a mix like a flowy dress or skirt, shorts or short skirt with a cute top, and a shorter dress. Anything connected to high school sports, activities, or their future college is always welcome too.
For the boys think of jeans, a few different types of shirts and stick with neutrals and earth tones. Avoid neon colors and logos if possible.

If you're interested in bringing a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend please inquire for a price depending on how much you want them in the pictures. A separate invoice will be sent.
Prospect Farms and some other locations have a rental fee. Not all locations will have a rental fee.
If the location your chose has a rental fee it will be an additional $100 per hour in addition to your the cost of the senior session.

“Marcie photographed both of my kids for their senior pictures, and I was absolutely blown away. She captured each of them so perfectly and somehow made every photo feel completely like them. I honestly cannot stop looking through their galleries because every single image feels like my favorite. These are photos I will treasure forever.”
My atlanta studio isn't the most common location for senior photos but if this is your vibe the lighting is beautiful and you don't have to worry about weather!
This is an amazing location with so many flowers. A lady owns a flower field where she grows many different types of flowers and sells them to wholesalers. The entire property is beautiful. There is a $100 rental fee to use this property.
This location has the most magical field and barn. This is public property and free to anyone who wants to use it. The golden hour here in the field is like no where else!
This is an all time favorite location. There is so much here for seniors, they have fields, flowers, fence line, bales of hay, beautiful trees, and gorgeous golden hour sunsets. This location has a fee of $100/hr to shoot here.
Light is always the number one thing I consider when choosing a location. Beautiful light can completely change the look and feel of your photos, so I’ve carefully chosen locations that photograph well, offer great variety, and give us the best chance for that soft, beautiful light I love. From there, we’ll choose the spot that feels most like your senior.
I rent my clothes every month and if I know I'm going to be doing a shoot with my daughter I will fill my monthly options up with things for her!
Start with outfits that feel like your senior, just a little more polished. The goal is not to dress like someone else for photos. It is to choose pieces they already feel confident in and build from there.
I recommend planning for about three outfits so we can get some variety throughout the session. For girls, that might be a flowy dress or skirt, shorts with a cute top, and a shorter dress or something a little more fitted. For boys, think a mix of casual and more polished pieces like jeans, a button-down, a jacket, or something connected to a sport or activity.
Solid colors, simple patterns, and pieces with good texture tend to photograph best. Try to avoid anything with large logos or graphics unless it is intentionally part of the look.
And do not forget the details. Make sure you have the right undergarments for each outfit, bring the right shoes and accessories, and take a little extra time with hair and styling. If there is something that feels especially meaningful to your senior, like a letterman jacket, college sweatshirt, uniform, or favorite pair of shoes, bring it. Those are often the pieces that make the session feel the most like them.
Start with what you feel best in and work with outfits that will give you some variety and tell a little something about your personality.
